Friday Melange

It’s been two weeks today since I started on this writing journey and wow, I have enjoyed it so much!  It’s been challenging and rewarding to learn the technology.  Satisfying to read and respond to your comments.  Nerve-wracking to be brave and candid.  Time-consuming to give it all the attention the initiative deserves.  Demanding as I try to become a better writer. Exciting to wonder where this will take us all…..

Yesterday’s post triggered a lot of comments.  I am grateful for the positive way you heard my vulnerabilities – I try to write as openly and honestly as I can because it is my intention to keep it all real.  As an offset, here is an easy breezy ‘my French life is not that glamourous’ update:

We finished Emily in Paris on this week’s date night (spoiler alert: it’s quite an unexpected cliff hanger!).

I made Emily and I one more carrot cake for this time round- that was Tuesday.  It’s just about gone.  Double layer with cream cheese icing middle and top.  And just the two of us eating.  Oh man, I sooooooo need a sugar detox.

Sweet Baby Nina has pink eye and a cold.  She has a doctor’s appointment this morning to get her sorted.  I have never seen her this miserable; wanting to be joyful and play but at the same time wanting to be held.  It doesn’t help that she is teething.

I am burnt out sorting photos and getting nowhere as I don’t know how to properly navigate Pictures, Photos, iCloud transfers/ICloud uploads.  I may just wait until I am back in Canada and go to Best Buy and get a quick lesson.  I say quick, thinking that if someone just shows me how to do it then I can take it from there.  As of now I have folders set up in several places (not intentional!) and am so over trying to figure it out.

There’s 131 subscribers now with almost 4500 views to all of the posts.  That blows me away.  We have even had some south of the border people jump on board.  Thank you all for spreading the word.  I sent out another email Wednesday so if you were signed up before then you should have received it.  If it’s not in your inbox, check your spam.   I encourage you to read the comments on the posts; I really enjoy what insights other people are contributing to our conversations and maybe you will too.

Happy weekend/bonne weekend to all.  We are going to Francois’ uncles’ birthday tomorrow.  The invite said “afternoon” but didn’t specify time.  Emily reminded me that here “afternoon” can be as late as 6pm so I await word on when we will be going.  I suspect we will otherwise be laying low, getting Baby Nina better and savouring our last weekend together before I have to leave again.  (I will write a post next week on visas etc.)  And it’s been a one croissant sort of week so I plan to get to the boulangerie over the next couple of days for a top up.  😊

From the land of cheese and croissants,

A bientot!  xo

PS: Photo of rice fields taken from an overnight train in Vietnam December 2017.  One of the most incredible vacations I have taken to a country I hope to one day visit again.

Poor Nina, hope she feels better soon. Pink Eye amongst the children is going around here in NB from what I have heard.
